It is possible to start the engine when the range control lever is in other than NEUTRAL. Should this happen, move the lever to NEUTRAL for a few seconds, then to desired gear speed and direction. 1. Be sure the anti-pivot link is in carry position. 2. Engage parking brake. 3. Move transmission control to NEUTRAL. 4. Apply the transmission control lock. 5. Move bucket and equipment controls to HOLD. 6. Turn disconnect switch ON. The low air pressure buzzer may sound until air pressure is obtained and the parking brake is released.Above 60°F (16°C)
7. Depress accelerator just past detent. 8. Turn HEAT-START switch to START. Release switch when engine starts.Below 60°F (16°C)
7. Depress accelerator just past detent and turn switch to HEAT for indicated time. 8. Turn switch to START. Release switch when engine starts. It may be necessary to return switch to HEAT until engine runs smoothly. When Starting Fluid is Required

Use starting fluid sparingly. Follow manufacturer's instructions carefully. Do not store starting fluid in operator's compartment.
Never switch to HEAT when engine is warm and running.
9. Push in and turn switch to START, and spray starting fluid sparingly into precleaner while cranking. 10. When engine starts, it may be necessary to return switch to HEAT until engine runs smoothly.Starting from External Power Source
Connect one cable to the ungrounded terminal of the weak battery.Connect the other end of this cable to the terminal of the same polarity (positive (+) to positive (+) and negative (-) to negative (-) on the auxiliary battery.Connect the second cable to the other terminal of the stronger battery.Finally connect the remaining cable end to the vehicle frame or starter ground terminal* below the level of the weak battery. This eliminates the risk of sparks.
Do not allow the free end of the jumper cable to touch either machine. This helps avoid sparks.
On all machines with "battery-to-starter" ground, connect the negative cable from the negative terminal of the auxiliary starting battery to the starter ground terminal of the machine to be started.*
