Family of Generator Set EnginesDescription of Change: Rotating rectifier diodes and varistor surge suppressor changes have been made to increase their surge protection capability. Because of this change, the former and new compatibility is effected.Adaptable To: The new 4P6008 Rectifier is a direct replacement for the former 9Y9411 Rectifier. The new 4P6009 Varistor (Surge Suppressor) is a direct replacement for the former 9Y9412 Varistor (Surge Suppressor). The new rectifier (diode) is compatible with either varistor (suppressor).
However, the new 4P6009 Varistor is only compatible with the new 4P6008 Rectifiers. Therefore, whenever a new varistor is installed, the associated rectifiers must be 4P6008. If the former rectifiers are still installed, they must be replaced with the new rectifiers.
