3126 (8NM, 6SR) MARINE ENGINESProblem:
Some 3116 and 3126 Marine Engines may operate unstably at the low idle speed of 650 rpm once the engine has reached operating temperature.Solution:
1. Follow the procedure shown in the video and booklet titled "Troubleshooting Guide" Form Number LEVN4032 to resolve the low idle instability. The video and booklet provide steps to ensure that the movement of the rack linkage is unrestricted and that all injectors are synchronized properly. If the instability is still present when the engine is at operating temperature, proceed to Step 2.2. Reduce the fuel delivery to cylinder No. 3 by 1/8 of a turn (0.1 mm) and increase the fuel delivery to cylinder No. 4 by 1/8 of a turn (0.1 mm). This adjustment will supply a consistently higher volume of cooler fuel to the rear three cylinders than to the front three cylinders. Due to the engine firing order, which alternates from front to rear, this adjusted fuel delivery should resolve the instability at low idle.If there are any questions, please contact Produce Service Engineer, Jerry Anderson at Phone No. (309) 578-8562.
