Handle the parts in accordance with your Warranty Bulletin on warranty parts handling.
Rework Procedure
Refer to the Service Manual if/as necessary and see the following procedure. Update the Motor Graders that are listed in this service letter with the new air dryer. The air dryer system will prevent moisture from collecting inside the air system. This air dryer system will increase service life of seals in the air system.
Refer to Media Number - KENR8442-03 : Disassembly and Assembly, "Air Compressor" for the specific procedures for connecting the new hoses to the air compressor.
Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.
Place identification marks on any lines, hoses, wires and tubes for reinstallation purposes.
Plug all lines, hoses, and tubes. This helps to prevent contamination, fluid loss from entering or leaving the system.
1. Park machine on flat service and lower all implements.
2. Stop engine and turn electrical disconnect to, "off" position.
3. Remove the right side access panel (A) to gain access to the service center (B).
4. Install fittings 3, 4, 5, and 6 into the air dryer group (1).
5. Connect hose assembly (7) to pipe fitting (3).
6. Attach the air dryer group (1) to the service center (B). Use three bolts (8) and three hard washers (9) in order to attach the air dryer.
7. Install plug (10) into the bottom of the reservoir (2) and air brake elbow (11) into the side.
8. Attach the reservoir (2) to the service center (B) by using mounting plate (12), two bolts (13) and two hard washers (14).
9. Install fitting (15) on the governor (16). Install fitting (17) onto fitting (15). Connect hose assembly (7) to fitting (17).
10. Remove the 2H-3940 Elbow from the air tank. Install fitting (18) into the air tank and connect hose assembly (19). The other end of hose assembly (19) is to be connected to the governor.
11. Connect tube assembly (20) to the reservoir and then to the air dryer
12. Connect hose assemblies (21), (22) and (23) to the air dryer
13. Route hose assembly (21) the drain tube through the bottom of the service center using three 5P-7584 Clips along with three 8T-4121 Washers and three 8T-4137 Bolts.
14. Plug the wiring harness (27) into the air dryer and then into wiring harness (28).
15. If necessary attach the wiring harnesses to the service center using clip (29) and spacer (30) along with the 8T-4121 Hard Washer and 8T-4137 Bolt.
16. Ensure that a 9W-1442 Fuse is installed in the correct location. The fuse block is located in the steering column.
17. The remaining clips, bolts, spacers, and washers will be used to secure the hose assemblies to ensure they are secure.
18. Reference SIS web and look up your machine and 311-2739 Wiring Group.
