Disassembly Procedure
Start By:
Remove the transmission hydraulic control relief valve.Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.

Remove O-ring seal (1) .

Remove bolts (2) and relief valve cover (3). Remove the O-ring seal from relief valve cover (3) .

Personal injury can result from being struck by parts propelled by a released spring force.Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment.Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to release the spring force.
Remove bolts (4) and relief valve access plate (5) .

Remove valve piston (9), valve spring (8), and spool assembly (7) from relief valve body (6) .

Remove retaining ring (10), spring retainer (11), valve slug (12), ball check spring (13), and check ball (14) from spool assembly (7) .

Remove housing plugs (15) and the O-ring seals from relief valve body (6) .
Remove housing plug (16) and the O-ring seal from relief valve body (6) .
Remove nipple assemblies (17) from relief valve body (6) .
