Remove cotter (2) from slotted nut (1). Loosen slotted nut (1) until there is a gap of approximately 6.4 mm (0.25 inch).

Position Tooling (D) between the center arm and the tie rod end. Position the strap around the hose assembly. Strike Tooling (D) with a hammer until the ball stud is loose.
Repeat Step 1 and Step 2 for the remaining ball stud.
Remove the slotted nuts and move the tie rods out of the way.

Remove bolts (5) from center arm (3). Disconnect hose assembly (4).
Remove lock (7).
Use Tooling (B) in order to support center arm (3), as shown.
Position Tooling (A) (not shown) under pin (6) (not shown). Use Tooling (A) in order to remove pin (6) from center arm (3).
Remove center arm (3) and remove the shims. The weight of center arm (3) is approximately 59 kg (131 lb).

Use Tooling (C) in order to remove sleeve bearing (8) (not shown) and sleeve bearing (9). Installation Procedure

Cool sleeve bearing (8) (not shown) and sleeve bearing (9) to a temperature of −40 °C (−40 °F). Use Tooling (C) in order to install sleeve bearing (8) and sleeve bearing (9) in the pin bores.

Use Tooling (B) in order to position center arm (3), as shown. Position the shims (not shown) on center arm (3). Use a soft faced hammer or Tooling (A) (not shown) in order to install pin (6). Install pin (6) with the slot toward the slot in center arm (3).

Install lock (7).

Install bolts (5). Install hose assembly (4).

Apply Tooling (E) on the taper of the ball studs. Install the ball studs into center arm (3).
Install slotted nuts (1). Tighten slotted nuts (1) to a torque of 1360 N m (1003 lb ft). If the holes do not line up, advance slotted nuts (1) to the next hole. Install cotters (2).
Align the front wheels. Refer to Steering System Operation, Testing and Adjusting, "Front Wheel - Align". End By:
Remove the wheel chocks. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Wheel Chock (Front and Rear) - Remove and Install".
