The title of the former technical information bulletin is "Correction to the Exhaust Gas Recirculation on Specific Motor Graders". Disregard the former technical information bulletin. Refer to the following technical information bulletin.Problem
Some of the listed machines experience exhaust gas that flows to the 141-2454 Precleaner Body . This can damage the 5P-0763 Hose . Also, this can clog the air cleaner element. If the air cleaner element becomes clogged, the performance of the engine can be affected.Due to the lack of a stopper on the outlet to the muffler, the 7E-9506 Exhaust Pipe As may not be fit correctly on the 7C-3693 Muffler As . This could reduce the suction in the exhaust pipe. The reduction in suction in the exhaust pipe causes two problems. The ejector tube for the muffler does not operate correctly. The exhaust pipe does not operate correctly.Solution
A stopper needs to be attached to the 7C-3693 Muffler As . Assemble the 7E-9506 Exhaust Pipe As correctly. Refer to the following procedure.

Fabricate a stopper from low carbon steel to the following dimensions.
(A) 25 mm (0.98 inch)
(B) 10 mm (0.4 inch)
(C) 5 mm (0.2 inch)

Position the stopper (1) down distance (D) from the top of the muffler assembly. Distance (D) measures 64 1 mm (2.52 0.04 inch). By using a welding electrode that meets the AWS E6013 specifications, attach the stopper to the muffler assembly with a 5 mm (0.2 inch) fillet weld (W1). Apply the weld to the three sides of the stopper. Refer to the Illustration 3.

When you install the 7E-9506 Exhaust Pipe As (2), the exhaust pipe assembly must contact the stopper (1) .Note: If you can not get the 7E-9506 Exhaust Pipe As to contact the stopper, you may need to replace the exhaust pipe assembly.

Refer to Illustration 5 and Illustration 6. Remove the 5P-0763 Hose (3). Check that suction is observed at the inlet to the ejector tube for the muffler. Use a piece of paper (4) in order to check that suction occurs at the inlet to the ejector tube for the muffler. Run the engine at LOW idle and run the engine at HIGH idle.Note: If you did not observe suction at the inlet to the ejector tube for the muffler, you may be required to replace the 7E-9506 Exhaust Pipe As .
