The sealing surfaces on the following components must be inspected and cleaned prior to installation:
Injectors
High Pressure Lines
Flow Limiters
High Pressure Line Assemblies
Fuel PumpHold the component near a light source in order to inspect the sealing band. Rotate the component for 360 degrees in order to inspect the sealing band.Note: If the component has stains from fuel on the sealing surface, inspect the component carefully. Stains from fuel do not always mean that a leak is present, but the stains from fuel are present in the area of a leak.Some of the damage may not be seen without magnification. The use of an 8S-2257 Eye Loupe As may be necessary in order to inspect the high pressure sealing surfaces. If necessary, a ProScope may be used to inspect the sealing band. The ProScope may also be a valuable tool in order to document the defects for the work order.If the component can be reused, use the proper procedure in order to clean the components. Refer to Reuse and Salvage Guideline, SEBF9109, "Cleaning and Handling Procedures for the Common Rail Fuel System Components".Injectors
