Removal Procedure
Personal injury can result from hot coolant, steam and alkali.At operating temperature, engine coolant is hot and under pressure. The radiator and all lines to heaters or the engine contain hot coolant or steam. Any contact can cause severe burns.Remove cooling system pressure cap slowly to relieve pressure only when engine is stopped and cooling system pressure cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.Do not attempt to tighten hose connections when the coolant is hot, the hose can come off causing burns.Cooling System Coolant Additive contains alkali. Avoid contact with skin and eyes.
Drain the coolant. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual Cooling System Coolant (ELC)-Change for the correct draining and filling procedure.

Disconnect harness assembly (1) and tube assembly (2) .
Remove bolts (4) and electronic control module (3) .
Loosen hose clamps (5) .

Use a suitable set of pliers to reposition retaining ring (6) as shown in illustration above.
Remove bolts (7) .

Disconnect harness assembly (8) .

Remove bolts (9) and hoses (10) .

Reposition water adapter (11) and adapter (12) in the direction as shown in the illustration above.
Attach a suitable lifting device to remove sea water heat exchanger (14). The weight of sea water heat exchanger (14) is approximately 30 kg (66 lb). Remove bolts (13) and sea water heat exchanger (14) .

Remove sensor (16), plug (17), and the O-ring seal.
Remove bolts (18), bolts (19), bonnet (15), and bonnet (20) .

Remove valve (20) .
Remove heat exchanger core (21) from heat exchanger (14) .Installation Procedure
Install heat exchanger (14) in the reverse order of removal.
Torque plug (17) to a torque of 30 3 N m (266 27 lb in).
Torque bolts (13) to a torque of 46 5 N m (34 4 lb ft).
Tighten bolts (9) to a torque of 46 5 N m (34 4 lb ft).
Tighten bolts (7) to a torque of 25 3 N m (221 27 lb in).
Tighten bolts (4) to a torque of 25 2.5 N m (221 22 lb in).
