"ELECTROMEC8" CONTROL BOARD (1) "DT" Potentiometer (2) "CYTON" Potentiometer (3) "CYTOFF" Potentiometer (4) Switch 2 (5) "OSSET" Potentiometer (6) Switch 1 (7) "L6CAL" IndicatorCycle Crank Adjustment
The instrument control board provides the automatic cycle crank feature. The control board is factory set for 3 attempts with a 10 second crank and a 10 second rest. On the control board, the duration timer ("DT") and the cyclic timer ("CYT") control the timing of crank cycle. In order to adjust the cycle cranking, adjustments can be made to the three potentiometers."CYTON" potentiometer (2) - The crank time is 0.3 seconds to 24 seconds."CYTOFF" potentiometer (3) - The "rest time" is 0.3 seconds to 24 seconds."DT" potentiometer (1) - The timer for the crank duration is from 8 seconds to 110 seconds. The duration time must equal the crank duration and the rest time for the number of cranks that are desired. Also, the duration time must slightly exceed the crank duration and the rest time for the number of cranks that are desired. A default setting is a crank duration. The crank duration may last for 10 seconds. The crank duration is followed by a 10 second rest time and a 53 second duration time. The duration time is set to 53 seconds. The time permits three cranking periods. There are 10 seconds of rest between the cranking periods.Procedure For Cycle Crank Adjustment
Note: Follow this entire procedure if all timers will be reset. Otherwise follow only those steps that pertain to the particular timer or the particular timers that will require adjusting.
Disconnect the battery wire from the pinion solenoid of the starting motor. The battery wire from the pinion solenoid should remain disconnected throughout this procedure.
Locate the three adjustment potentiometers "CYTON", "CYTOFF", and "DT" on the instrument control board.
Turn the "DT" potentiometer (1) clockwise until the potentiometer stops.
Turn the "CYTOFF" potentiometer (3) counterclockwise until the potentiometer stops. Then, give the "CYTOFF" potentiometer a half turn clockwise.
Turn the "CYTON" potentiometer (2) counterclockwise until the potentiometer stops. Then, turn the "CYTON" potentiometer clockwise for one-fourth of a turn.
Use a test light or a voltmeter to monitor the DC voltage that is between the battery negative terminal and the output for the starting motor of the instrument control board. The output for the starting motor is connected to connector contact 13. DO NOT disconnect the connector on the instrument control board. This signal for the starting motor is available at various points inside the control panel or out on the engine.
