Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

When the drain valve is under the fuel tank at the rear of the machine.
Remove plug (1) .
Loosen the bolt (2) on the side of the drain.
Allow the water and the sediment to drain into a suitable container.
Tighten the bolt on the side of the drain.
Install plug (1) .

When the drain valve is located on the side of the fuel tank at the rear of the machine.
Loosen the plug on the side of the fuel tank.Note: The engagement of the plug can be varied to allow metering of the water and sediment as it is drained.
Allow the water and the sediment to drain into a suitable container.
Tighten the plug.
