Removal Procedure
Start By:
Install the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Remove and Install".
Remove the exhaust purifier and muffler. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Exhaust Purifier and Muffler - Remove".Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the removal procedure, the exterior of the component must be clean. Cleanliness will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.
At operating temperature, the engine coolant is hot and under pressure.Steam can cause personal injury.Check the coolant level only after the engine has been stopped and the fill cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.Remove the fill cap slowly to relieve pressure.Cooling system conditioner contains alkali. Avoid contact with the skin and eyes to prevent personal injury.
Hot engine components can cause injury from burns. Before performing maintenance on the engine, allow the engine and the components to cool.
Note: Put identification marks on all lines, on all hoses, on all wires and on all tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, all hoses, and all tubes. Plugs will help prevent fluid loss and will help to prevent contaminants from entering the system.
Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or for disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Capacities (Refill)" for the capacity of the cooling system. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (DEAC) - Change" or Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change" for the proper draining procedure.
