(1) Torque for the four bolts ... 870 110 N m (640 80 lb ft)(2) Torque for the four nuts ... 500 65 N m (370 48 lb ft) For collet removal, use 9DE4054 forcing bolts.Reference: For the correct steering cylinder removal and installation procedures, refer to Disassembly & Assembly, for the machine that is being serviced. Pin and Collet Installation Procedure1. Clean all collets and pins.2. Clean the bores for all collets and pins.3. Apply 5P-0960 Molybdenum Grease to the pin bores before assembly. Apply 5P-3931 Anti-Seize Compound to all collet fastening bolts.4. Collets and pins must be centered axially. Installation Procedure for the Steering Cylinder Collet Assemblies: 1. Install washers (3), pin (4), collets (2) and bolt (1), as shown in the illustration. The collet on one side must not extend farther than the other collet when the bolt is tight.2. Tighten bolt (1) to a torque of 870 110 N m (640 80 lb ft). After the bolt is tight, hit the collet on each side with a heavy hammer until the torque on the bolt is less than 360 N m (265 lb ft).3. Tighten the bolt again to a torque of 870 110 N m (640 80 lb ft). Hit each collet again until the torque for the bolt is less than 570 N m (420 lb ft).4. Tighten the bolt to a final torque of 870 110 N m (640 80 lb ft).5. Install nut (5) and tighten to a torque of 500 65 N m (370 48 lb ft). 50 service hours after any pin and collet was installed, loosen the nut and tighten the bolt in each collet assembly to 870 110 N m (640 80 lb ft). Retighten the nut to 500 65 N m (370 48 lb ft).
