Reset EventsTroubleshooting
There are common reasons for the EMCP 4 to allow events to not be reset:
EMCP 4 must be in stop mode
Engine speed must also be zeroThe following information provides an explanation of the service maintenance interval warning and not in auto warning.Not in Auto Warning
The "Not in Auto Warning" event is present whenever the control is in either "RUN" or "STOP". Therefore, the event cannot be reset while still in "STOP" mode since the event is still present. The event will reset when the control is returned to "AUTO". The event can be disabled by modifying the configuration of the set point for "Generator Control Not in Automatic" warning event response.Service Maintenance Interval
A service maintenance interval warning that is present cannot be reset. The warning is present because the countdown timer has reached zero. To clear the warning, the timer must be reset rather than the event.The timer returns to the programmed interval when reset. The timer must be reset from the display. The timer cannot be reset by using the Cat Service Tool alone. The service maintenance interval warning can only be disabled by using the "Event Response Configuration".Note: The default is 180 calendar days or 500 engine hours.Note: The warning does not appear on the face of the EMCP 4 as a flashing LED unless configured to do so within Cat ET. The warning appears under the "Event Response Configuration - Engine Protection Events".View and Reset Timer Settings with the Display
Use the navigation keys at the main menu to select "CONFIGURE".

Press the OK key.
Use the navigation keys to select "RESET COUNTERS".

Press the OK key.
Use the navigation keys to select "SERVICE MAINT INTERVAL".

Press the OK key.
The reset service maintenance interval hours and days dialog will appear. A dialog will also appear to enter the password that is required to reset the service maintenance interval. The security level required is level 3 but, the required security level can be changed by using the Cat Service Tool.

To reset the service interval, press the "OK" key. A confirmation prompt will appear. Refer to Illustration 15.

Press the "OK" key to continue to reset the service maintenance interval. Press the escape key to cancel the reset operation.
The new service intervals will be displayed.
Illustration 16 g02291601Note: Be sure to change the password level back to level 3 after the service interval has been reset. Use Cat Service Tool to change the password level. Change the password to prevent inadvertently resetting the timer at other times.View and Reset Timer Settings with the Cat ET
Connect to the EMCP 4 using the Cat Service Tool.
Select "Service Maintenance Interval" (1) on the left side of the dialog.

Double click "Maintenance Level 1 Cycle Interval Hours" (2)
