Insulation testing the Motor 1 phase B bus bar - this test result is 1.5 megohms resistance to ground
At the Motor 2 or the Motor 1 bus bar connections, connect the positive tester probe to the phase A lug. Do not allow the positive probe to contact the connector enclosure.
While observing the resistance value on the tester display, test the motor bus bar positive circuit at the maximum allowable 1000 V setting. Do not test the resistance at a setting of greater than 1000 V.
Move the positive tester probe of the insulation tester to the phase B lug and test in the same manner.
Move the positive tester probe of the insulation tester to the phase C lug and test in the same manner. Expected Result:The test resistance readings of each of the phase lug to ground tests are greater than 500 kohms (500,000 ohms). Results:
OK - The insulation tests for the motor phase lug to ground tests measured resistance values of greater than 500 kohms (500,000 ohms). The internal AC motor bus bars in the Power Inverter are most likely not causing the ground fault condition. Remove the tester probes and proceed to Test Step 6.
NOT OK - At least one of the insulation tests for the internal AC motor bus bars in the Power Inverter measured the resistance close to 500 kohms (500,000 ohms) or less. The internal AC motor bus bars in the Power Inverter could be causing the ground fault condition.Repair: Check the terminals again for any foreign objects or conditions that could cause a short circuit between a motor bus bar and the connector enclosure.Repeat this insulation test of the Power Inverter AC motor bus bar connections. Use the insulation tester to perform this test step again in order to confirm the result of the initial insulation tests. If the result of the second insulation test on the AC motor bus bars in the Power Inverter result in a poor resistance measurement again, call the Dealer Solutions Network (DSN). Indicate the steps that have been taken to find the cause of the ground fault and the results that were observed. DSN personnel will give instructions on the actions that must be taken to resolve this problem.STOPTest Step 6. CHECK THE STATUS OF THE GROUND FAULT EVENT
Inspect the disconnected lugged conductor connectors for the AC system. Ensure that the contacts of the mating connectors are clean, dry, and free of any form of contamination. Reconnect all of the disconnected lugged connectors.
Install all sealing enclosure plates and enclosure covers that were removed in order to disconnect conductors.
Connect the 70 contact low voltage control harness connector to the Power Inverter connector.
Verify that all conductors and connectors are connected and all protective enclosures are installed.
Connect any conductor shield ground wires that were disconnected to the original connection points. Verify that all of the shield ground wires are connected at the original connection points. Do not start the engine with any conductor shield wires or ground straps disconnected.
Turn the disconnect
