Personal injury can result from hot coolant, steam and alkali.At operating temperature, engine coolant is hot and under pressure. The radiator and all lines to heaters or the engine contain hot coolant or steam. Any contact can cause severe burns.Remove cooling system pressure cap slowly to relieve pressure only when engine is stopped and cooling system pressure cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.Do not attempt to tighten hose connections when the coolant is hot, the hose can come off causing burns.Cooling System Coolant Additive contains alkali. Avoid contact with skin and eyes.
Do not change the coolant until you read and understand the cooling system information in Special Publication, SEBU6250, "Caterpillar Machine Fluids Recommendations".Failure to do so could result in damage to the cooling system components.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Note: This machine was filled at the factory with Cat Extended Life Coolant.If the coolant in the machine is changed to Extended Life Coolant from another type of coolant, see Special Publication, SEBU6250, "Caterpillar Machine Fluids Recommendations".Service Center Fast Fill (If Equipped)
Your machine may be equipped with fast fill ports that are located within the machine service center. You may drain fluids through these ports or you may add fluids through these ports.Reference: Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Service Center" for additional information.Note: The pressure must be removed from the system before service can be performed. (1) Access door

Open access door (1) that is located between the engine air cleaners on the top of the engine compartment. Slowly remove cooling system pressure cap (2). Note: Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "General Hazard Information" for information that pertains to containing fluid spillage.

(4) Cooling system drain valve hose
Position a suitable container beneath cooling system drain valve hose (4). The cooling system drain valve hose is located under the rear of the machine.

Open cooling system drain valve (5) and allow the coolant to drain into the container that was positioned in step 2.
Flush the cooling system. Follow step 4.a through Step 4.h in order to flush the cooling system.
Close the cooling system drain valve.
Fill the cooling system with clean water.
Install the cooling system pressure cap.
Start the engine and run the engine until the engine reaches operating temperature.
Stop the engine and allow the engine
