Factory new connecting rod assemblies have no markings on the machined bottom face of the connecting rod cap, but have a manufacture date and serial identification on the side. The defective factory new rod assemblies have no markings on this machine surface. However, genuine Cat ® Reman connecting rod assemblies have one of the two markings shown in Illustration 2.The change is effective at the factory with the 3304B machine engine serial numbers H4G00440-UP. and with the 3306B machine engine serial numbers R6J02907-UP.This change is also effective at the factory with machine serial numbers that are listed in Table 2.
