Information:
Which Generate This Code:This diagnostic code is caused when the implement control ECM cannot communicate with the display.System Response:When the code is active, the display is unable to communicate with the implement control ECM.Test Step 1. CHECK THE IMPLEMENT CONTROL ECM WITH CATERPILLAR ELECTRONIC TECHNICIAN (ET)
Connect the 275-5120 Communication Adapter Gp to the machine.
Turn the key start switch for the machine to the ON position.
Use Cat ET in order to check the status of the implement control ECM.Results:
OK - The implement control ECM is communicating with Cat ET. Proceed to Test Step 2.
NOT OK - The implement control ECM is not communicating with Cat ET. Proceed to Test Step 6.Test Step 2. CHECK THE INSTALLATION STATUS OF THE IMPLEMENT CONTROL ECM
Leave the 275-5120 Communication Adapter Gp and Cat ET connected.
The key start switch for the machine remains in the ON position.
Use the "Configuration" menu of Cat ET in order to check the "AccuGrade Installation Status" field of the implement control ECM. Ensure that the installation status is set to "Installed".Results:
OK - The "AccuGrade Installation Status" is "Installed". Proceed to Test Step 3.
NOT OK - The "AccuGrade Installation Status" is "Unistalled".Repair: Update the "AccuGrade Installation Status" field to "Installed". Turn off the power to the machine and the display. Then turn the key start switch to the ON position. Check the status of the "CB 22" Diagnostic.STOPTest Step 3. CHECK THE RESISTANCE OF THE CAN CIRCUIT
Place the key start switch and the disconnect switch in the OFF position.
Take the following measurement at the connector for the sensor harness. Measure the resistance between contact "B" (wire L856-YL) and contact "D" (wire L857-GN).Expected Result:The resistance measurement is 60 6 ohms. Results:
YES - The resistance measurement is 60 6 ohms. Proceed to Test Step 5.
NO - The resistance measurement is NOT 60 6 ohms. Proceed to Test Step 4.Test Step 4. CHECK THE CAN TERMINATION RESISTORS.
Place the key start switch and the disconnect switch in the OFF position.
Disconnect the 3-pin connector for both of the termination resistors.
Measure the resistance between contact A (wire L856-YL) and contact B (wire L857-GN) for both resistors. Note the resistance.Expected Result:The resistance that was measured is 120 12 ohms. Results:
YES - The resistance measurements are 120 12 ohms. Reconnect the resistors. Proceed to Test Step 5.
NO - One or all resistance measurements are NOT 120 12 ohms. Repair: Replace the termination resistor(s) that did not measure 120 12 ohms.STOPTest Step 5. CHECK IF THE DIAGNOSTIC CODE REMAINS
Reconnect all harness connections.
Turn the key start switch and the disconnect switch to the ON position.Expected Result:The diagnostic code is no longer active. Results:
YES - The diagnostic code is no longer active. The diagnostic code may have been caused by a poor electrical connection or a short at one of the harness connectors that was disconnected and reconnected. Repair: Resume normal machine operation.STOP
NO - The diagnostic code is still active.Repair: Contact the technical communicator at your dealership for a possible consultation with Caterpillar.STOPTest Step 6. CHECK THE
