PROBLEM
The existing sprocket bolts can loosen and fail on certain 336D2 Excavators. If the existing bolts fail, it can result in damage to the drive sprocket and drive gear case.

PARTS DISPOSITION
Handle the parts in accordance with your Warranty Bulletin on warranty parts handling.
Rework Procedure
Note: Before beginning the following Rework Procedure, please review the safety actions in the Operation and Maintenance Manual.
The sprocket bolts tightening specification needs to be inspected. Refer to RENR9583, Specifications, for torque information, and if under specification,
reapply according to the procedure as follows.
1. Degrease the existing 8T-0380 or 447-1722 Bolts before assembling. Use a suitable solvent/degreaser.
Note: When removing the bolts clean out the housing thread and the assembly face.
2. Remove and replace the existing 8T-0380 or 447-1722 bolts with new 447-1722 bolts, one at a time, in an alternating sequence.
Note: When removing the bolts clean out the housing thread and the assembly face.
3. Apply Loctite 243 to the bolt thread before installing.
4. Tighten each bolt to a specified torque of 900 +/- 100 N.m.
