Removal Procedure
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, PERJ1017, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Hot oil and hot components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or hot components to contact the skin.
Drain the engine oil into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Engine Oil and Filter - Change".

Remove drain plug (5) and the drain plugs from the opposite side of engine oil pan (3). Remove the O-ring seals from the drain plugs and drain plug (5).
Remove valve (2).
Remove bolts (1). Remove engine oil pan (3).
Remove plate (6).Note: The oil pump tube assemblies must be removed in order to remove plate (6).
Remove gaskets (4) from the cylinder block and engine oil pan (3).Installation Procedure

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Clean the sealing surface of the engine oil pan, cylinder block, front housing, and the flywheel housing.
Apply Tooling (A) in order to fill the space at the flywheel housing, the cylinder block, and the engine oil pan. Apply Tooling (A) in order to fill the space at the front housing, the cylinder block, gasket (4), and plate (6).
Install gasket (4) and plate (6). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 55 10 N m (41 7 lb ft)Note: The oil pump tube assemblies must be installed before the oil pan (3).

Install gaskets (4) and on engine oil pan (3).
Put engine oil pan (3) in position and install bolts (1). Tighten bolts (1) to a torque of 55 10 N m (41 7 lb ft).
Install the O-ring seal and drain plug (5). Tighten drain plug (5) to a torque of 70 15 N m (52 11 lb ft).
Install valve (2).
Apply Tooling (B) to the plugs on the opposite side of engine oil pan (3). Install the plugs and tighten to a torque of 82 10 N m (61 7 lb ft).
Fill the engine oil pan to the correct level that is indicated on the engine oil level gauge. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Engine Oil and Filter - Change".
