(1) Torque for 8 studs ... 400 40 lb. ft.(542 54 N m)(2) Torque for 40 nuts ... 890 40 lb. ft.(1207 54 N m) Be sure all wheel and mounting rim surfaces are free of grease and oil before assembly. Put 2P2506 Lubricant on faces of washers and threads of nuts (2) and (5) before assembly.Bearing Adjustment
1. Install wheel and bearings on the spindle.2. Install retainer (4) with three bolts (5) evenly spaced (no shims).3. Tighten bolts (5) to a torque of 50 lb. ft. (68 N m) while turning wheel.4. Measure distance to the spindle through the two tapped holes in retainer (4).5. Find the average of these measurements.6. Remove bolts and retainer. Measure thickness of retainer (4) near the tapped holes.7. Find the average of these measurements.8. The difference of the two average measurements plus .010 in. (0.25 mm) is the correct thickness of shims to use.9. Install shims (3) and retainer (4).10. Tighten bolts (5) to a torque of 150 20 lb. ft. (204 27 N m) while turning the wheel.
