Remove & Install Crankshaft Pulley (Marine Engine)
1. Remove vee belts (1) from the front of the engine.2. Remove bolt (2) and washer (3) from the crankshaft.
Typical Example3. Use tooling (A) to pull pulley assembly (4) from the crankshaft. The following steps are for installation of the crankshaft pulley.4. Put clean engine oil on the lip of the front crankshaft seal and sealing surface of the crankshaft pulley.5. Put crankshaft pulley (4) in position on the end of the crankshaft.
Typical Example6. Install the screw of tooling (B) in the end of the crankshaft. Put the crossbar of tooling (B) on the screw and against the pulley. Use tooling (B) to push the pulley on to crankshaft until it makes contact with crankshaft gear inside timing gear housing. Remove tooling (B).7. Install washer (3) and bolt (2) in the end of the crankshaft. Tighten the bolt to a torque of 624 80 N m (460 60 lb ft).8. Install the vee belts and make an adjustment to the belt tension. See the V-Belt Tension Chart in Specifications.Remove & Install Crankshaft Pulley (Industrial Engine)
1. Loosen the tension on the vee belts, and remove vee belts (1) from the crankshaft pulley. 2. Remove bolts (2) and pulley adapter (3). 3. Remove bolts (4) and pulley adapter (5). 4. Remove bolt (6) and washer (7) from the crankshaft. 5. Use tooling (A) to remove crankshaft pulley (8). The following steps are for installation of the crankshaft pulley.6. Put clean engine oil on the lip of the front crankshaft seal and seal surface of the crankshaft pulley.7. Put crankshaft pulley (8) in position on the end of the crankshaft.
Bolt (6) and washer (7) must not be used to install crankshaft pulley (8) on the crankshaft.
8. Install the screw of tooling (B) in the end of the crankshaft. Put the crossbar of tooling (B) on the screw and against the pulley. Use tooling (B) to push the pulley on to the crankshaft until it makes contact with the crankshaft gear inside the timing gear housing. Remove tooling (B).9. Install washer (7) and bolt (6) in the end of the crankshaft. Tighten the bolt to a torque of 624 80 N m (460 60 lb ft). When a front power take-off is used, increase the torque of bolt (6) to 950 50 N m (700 37 lb ft). Tighten bolts (4) to a torque of 55 7 N m (41 5 lb ft).10. Install pulley adapter (5) with bolts (4).11. Install pulley adapter (3) with bolts (2).12. Install vee belts (1), and make an adjustment to the belt tension. See the V-Belt Tension Chart in Specifications.
