Some C175 cylinder heads have been found missing one of the valve stem retainers on all four valves.Solution
Do not operate or work on this product unless you have read and understood the instruction and warnings in the relevant Operation and Maintenance Manuals and relevant service literature. Failure to follow the instructions or heed the warnings could result in injury or death. Proper care is your responsibility.
Illustration 1 g06299012Inspect all 4 valves, each valve should have 2 of the valve stem retainers in place.If the defect is found in a CRC environment, the missing retainer can be replaced.The required part number is 197-7055 Retainer Lock.If found in an environment that is not conducive to replacing the retainer, the head should be returned through standard parts warranty channels.Reference: The Disassembly and Assembly, KENR6052, "Inlet and Exhaust Valve Springs - Remove and Install".Table 1 contains cylinder heads that should be inspected for missing valve stem retainers.Note: The cylinder heads found with this defect have been found in dealer parts stock, part number 517-4408 only.Note: Heads that are running on engines likely would not last more than a few hundred hours with a retainer missing. Running engines should not need to be inspected. Dealer stock engines machine engines, built with the new 515-8767 head should be inspected.
