(3) Timing marks for the idler gear and the crankshaft gear
Make sure that the timing marks on the gears are in alignment.
Measure the backlash between the camshaft gear and the idler gear. Refer to Specifications, "Gear Group (Front)" for the correct value.
Measure the backlash between the fuel injection pump gear and the idler gear. Refer to Specifications, "Gear Group (Front)" for the correct value.
If the backlash is not within the specification, the gears must be replaced. Check the backlash again.
