Preliminary Information
The EMCP II+ must be programmed with the specific site information to allow for proper and safe operation of the generator set. The GSC+ within EMCP II+ has various important setpoints. Some setpoints must be programmed before starting, some need only be programmed if optional equipment is used and some are programmed to specific customer requirements.Certain basic information about the generator set is required before programming can begin. For the particular genset, determine the value that is required for the following items.* Number Of Flywheel Teeth* Rated Speed* Low Oil Pressure Shutdown At Rated Speed* Low Oil Pressure Shutdown At Idle Speed* High Water Temperature Shutdown* Rated AC Voltage Of The Generator Set* Rated Current For The Current Transformers* Nameplate Voltage of Generator Set* Nameplate Current of Generator Set* Nameplate Power of Generator Set* Nameplate Frequency of Generator Set* Type of Generator Connection - Delat or Wye* Number of Generator PolesThe following setpoints must be programmed before starting the genset: P002 - Display Units. Program this setpoint to determine if the GSC+ will display engine parameters in English or Metric units. P005 - Coolant Loss Sensor Program this setpoint to indicate whether the coolant loss sensor is installed. P009 - Ring Gear Teeth. Program this setpoint with the number of flywheel teeth in the speed sensing circuitry. P010 - Engine Overspeed. Program this setpoint to the engine manufacturer's recommended value. Caterpillar gensets are set at a value of 1.18 × Rated Speed. For example: if rated = 1800 rpm, then overspeed (P010) = 2120 rpm. Also see the GSC+ Engine Setpoints chart. P012 - Oil Step Speed. This setpoint should be programmed between 60 and 80% of rated speed. For various Caterpillar engines, see the Oil Step Speed - Setpoint P12 chart. For other engines, consult the engine manufacturer for recommended values. P013 - Low Oil Pressure Shutdown At Rated Speed. Program this setpoint to indicate the pressure where the GSC+ determines a low oil pressure shutdown when the speed is above setpoint P012.Recommended values for Caterpillar engines are listed in the GSC+ Engine Setpoint chart. For other engines, consult the engine manufacturer for recommended values. P014 - Low Oil Pressure Shutdown At Idle Speed. Program this setpoint to indicate the pressure where the GSC+ determines a low oil pressure shutdown when the speed is below setpoint P012.Recommended values for Caterpillar engines are listed in the GSC+ Engine Setpoint chart. For other engines, consult the engine manufacturer for recommended values. P015 - High Water Temperature Shutdown. Program this setpoint to indicate the temperature at which the GSC+ will shutdown the engine due to excessive coolant temperature. P020 - AC Voltage Full Scale. Program this setpoint to the default value of 700 ACV if the control panel is to be used with voltages up to 600 ACV.
