The system separates oil from the crankcase blowby gases. The oil is returned to the crankcase. The gases are recirculated into the air inlet for combustion. This system is used on engines with the following ratings:
E Rating - Typical applications for this rating include these types of high performance vessels with planing hulls: pleasure craft, harbor patrol, harbor master, some fishing boats, and some pilot boats. The engine may be operated with a load factor of up to 30 percent. Operation at the rated rpm is limited to eight percent of the time (one-half hour out of every six hours). The engine is operated from 250 to 1000 hours per year.
Ehp Rating - Typical applications for this rating include fast patrol craft and fast yachts. This rating uses the same guidelines as the "E" rating. However, this rating applies to non-revenue producing vessels.
Maintenance interval requirements for air cleaners, turbochargers, and aftercoolers are affected by load factors. Engine operation that exceeds the rating guidelines will require more frequent maintenance.
