The air conditioner snorkel needs to be addedon certain 416D, 420D and 430D Backhoe Loaders. Some operators have requestedmore airflow from the air conditioner while in the backhoe dig operation.A new air conditioner snorkel duct is available that will improve the airflowto the operator.

Installation Instructions for Mounting 2280298Snorkel Duct
Inspect the current air conditioning ductworkto be sure everything is in place, properly sealed, and system is charged.
Remove the defrost louver on the machine righthand console rear plenum.
Enlarge the opening in the right hand rear plenumto match the inlet of the 2280298 Snorkel Duct.
Remove the machine right hand lower window topmounting screw and washer (M6 size). Attach the 2280297 Mounting Bracketto the window bracket by utilizing the same screw and washer. Orient thebracket so the M6 weldnut is located at the top and is on the machine rearside of the bracket. Tighten the M6 screw to a torque of 12 N.m.
Install 2280560 Seal, as shown in Illustration1.
To install duct, position the duct on the machineinboard side of the plenum outlet and slide the duct machine outboard.The duct will snap into place - some pressure is required to install theduct.
Install M6 mounting screw and washer - reachingthrough the duct outlet, attach the duct to the mounting bracket with a9X2042 M6 Screw and a 5P4115 Washer supplied. Apply downward pressure to"seat" the duct and the seal, then tighten the screw to torque of 6 N.m.
Snap 8Y6967 Louver into the duct outlet.
Check for air leaks.
