Install the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Remove and Install".
Remove the transmission bottom guard. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Bottom Guard (Transmission) - Remove and Install".
Personal injury can result from driveline torque windup under load.Unequal wheel speed can result in driveline torque windup which can cause driveline components to be under load during disassembly.Relieve the driveline torque windup before disassembly.

Support rear drive shaft (1). Remove four bolts (2) and four bolts (3).
Use two people to remove rear drive shaft (1). The weight of the rear drive shaft is approximately 27 kg (60 lb).Installation Procedure
When the rear drive shaft is installed, it must be installed in phase with the rear axle assembly yoke. The rear drive shaft must be installed in phase with the center and front drive shafts. Serious component damage could occur. Be certain that all the joint groups, all the yokes, and all the lubricating fittings are aligned.

Use two people to position rear drive shaft (1) between the output yoke of the output transfer gears and the rear differential. The weight of the rear drive shaft is approximately 27 kg (60 lb).
Apply Tooling (A) and then apply Tooling (B) to the threads of bolts (2) prior to installation.Note: Bolts (2) are single use only parts. Discard bolts (2) whenever loosened.
Install bolts (2). Tighten bolts (2) to a torque of 160 15 N m (120 11 lb ft).
Apply Tooling (A) and then apply Tooling (B) to the threads of bolts (3) prior to installation.Note: Bolts (3) are single use only parts. Discard bolts (3) whenever loosened.
Install bolts (3). Tighten bolts (3) to a torque of 160 15 N m (120 11 lb ft).End By:
Install the transmission bottom guard. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Bottom Guard (Transmission) - Remove and Install".
Remove the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Remove and Install".
