(2-Group B Rework Procedure) Group A Rework Procedure Non-Planetary Design Clutch & Gear Group (7G4646) Use the following instructions in conjunction with the 56 Towing Winch Service Manuals. Use Form Nos SENR3439-00 and SENR3191-00 when referring to the step numbers in the procedure. 1. Remove the winch from the tractor. 2. Remove the pinion and cages from the winch using procedure in Service Manual. 3. Remove the bevel gear and shaft assembly (stop at Step 9 of the procedure in the Service Manual). 4. Disassemble bevel gear and shaft assembly. (Stop disassembly after Step 29 of the procedure in the Service Manual. Omit Steps 6-18 and 23-28). 5. Replace the two races and bearing with one 8E0266 Spacer. (See Illustration #2). 6. Assemble bevel gear and shaft assembly. Use Steps 15, 16, and 17 of the procedure in the Service Manual). 7. Install one 6Y9700 Plate and one 6Y9702 Plate in the groove in the bevel gear shaft. (See Illustration #1). Use a thickness gauge to measure the clearance between the plates and the groove. Make note of the measurement. 8. Use three 0S1608 Bolts and 1D4717 Nuts. Position them, equally spaced, between the bevel gears and adjust nuts to maintain a 136.00 mm dimension across the rear surfaces of the bevel gears. (See Illustration #2). 9. Install the 6Y9701 Shims (thickness found in Step 7), two 6Y9700 Plates, two 6Y9702 Plates in the groove. There can be a maximum allowable gap of 0.025 mm between the plates, shims and groove. 10. Use a thickness gauge to measure the clearance between the 6Y9702 Plate and the housing assembly. Make note of the measurement. The shim pack thickness can be +/- 0.025 mm of the measured dimension. 11. Install the 9G1969 Shims (the thickness found in Step 10), the 6Y9701 Shims (thickness found in Step 8), the two 6Y9700 Plates, the two 6Y9702 Plates, and six 0S1594 Bolts. Tighten the bolts to 55 +/- 7 N.m. See Illustration #3. Remove the three 0S1608 Bolts and 1D4717 Nuts. Check the dimension between the rear surfaces of the bevel gears again. It should be 136.00 +/- 0.05 mm. 12. Assemble the remaining parts of the bevel gear and shaft assembly using Steps 20-38 of the procedure in the Service Manual. 13. Install the bevel gear shaft assembly in the winch using the procedure in the Service Manual. Note: The 61.32 mm dimension in Step 13 of the Service Manual should not
