65. Put the No. 1 clutch gear (83) in position, and install the retaining ring. 66. Install the five disc assemblies (84) and four clutch plates (85) for the No. 1 clutch starting with a disc assembly. 67. Install the springs (87) and reaction pins (88) for the No. 1 clutch.68. Put the input flange (86) in position. Make sure the springs and pins are in correct position. 69. Install and tighten the bolts (89) to 85 5 lb.ft. (11.8 0.7 mkg). 70. Use clutch testing nozzle (D) and compressed air to check the operation of each clutch piston. Put oil in each clutch port before checking the pistons. If clutch pistons are free, there should be about 1/8 to 1/4 in. (3 to 6 mm) of movement for each piston. If the piston does not move, it is bending and the transmission must be disassembled to find the cause.71. Install two 5/8"-11NC forged eyebolts in the transmission case. Fasten a hoist and put the case in position. Make sure the O-ring seal (20) is in place when installing the case. 72. Install the bolts that hold the case (90) to cover plate (18). 73. Put the ring (91) in position on the transmission. 74. Install and tighten the bolts (92) to 85 5 lb.ft. (11.8 0.7 mkg).75. Install O-ring seal (93). 76. Install the four O-ring seals (94) in the No. 2 and No. 3 clutch housing. Install the sleeve in clutch port (95). 77. Install the O-ring seals (97) in manifold.78. Put the manifold and valve group (98) for override selector in position, and install the three bolts (96). Tighten the bolts to 35 3 lb.ft. (4.8 0.4 mkg). 79. Install oil manifold (99) and two bolts (100). 80. Install the three oil tubes (101).81. Install oil tubes (102) and (103). 82. Install the O-ring seals (107) on valve group. 83. Put the selector valve group (104) in position on manifold with the valve spools engaged with lever assembly (108) and cam assembly (111).
Do not let valve spools (105) and (106) fall out of valve body during installation of selector valve group.
84. Install the two 3/8"-16NC x 8 in. long guide bolts (110).85. Install the bolts (109) and (112) that hold the valve group (104) in place. Tighten the bolts to 35 3 lb.ft. (4.8 0.4 mkg). 86. Install O-ring seals (113) on valve group (114).87. Install valve group (114) for manual modulating. 88. Connect the linkage (115) to the lever (116) on valve group for manual modulating. 89. Put the valve group (117) for pressure control in position, and install the bolts (118) and (119). Tighten the bolts to 35 3 lb.ft. (4.8 0.4 mkg). 90. Remove the two guide bolts (110), and install the bolts (120). Tighten the bolts to 35 3 lb.ft. (4.8 0.4 mkg). 91.
