Cat® Electronic Technician (Cat ET) is a software program that is used to access data and perform machine maintenance. Some of the Cat ET attributes are:
View diagnostic codes. See Troubleshooting, "Determining Diagnostic Trouble Codes".
View the active event codes and logged event codes.
View parameter status.
Clear active and logged diagnostic codes.
Perform machine system calibrations.
Flash the Electronic Control Module (ECM) using WINflash. See Testing and Adjusting, "ECM Software - Install".
Print reports.Following are some of the Cat ET diagnostic and programming functions:
Display ECM system failures.
Display input and output status.
Display ECM settings.
Display input and output parameter status in real time.
Display the clock hour of the internal diagnostic clock.
Display logged diagnostic code details (The number of occurrences, the clock hour of the first occurrence and the last occurrence).
Display the definition of each logged diagnostic code and event.

Text description of the problem
Number of occurrences of the problem
Time stamp displaying the first occurrence of the problem

Configure VIMSTM Outputs
Use Cat ET to configure the outputs for VIMSTM.Procedure
Connect a computer with Cat ET to the machine service connector via the communication adapter.
Turn the disconnect key and the keyswitch ON.
Start Cat ET.
Establish communication with the machine.

Select "Service".

Select the Configuration option of the Service menu or press the "F5" key.

Select the parameter.Configure the output diagnostics for the parameter.
Click the "Change" button on the Configuration screen. A dialog box will be displayed.

Click the down arrow on the right-hand side of the dialog box.The parameter settings will be displayed.
Highlight the new value.
Click the OK button.Cat ET will display the following:
