Information:

1. Throttle lever - sets the speed of the engine.2. Ignition switch - turns electrical power to the engine, engine controls and engine instruments on ("Run" position) or "Off".3. Start switch - engergizes the engine starters when pressed down.4. Oil pressure gauge - shows the engine oil pressure in pounds per square inch (psi). The normal range is 50 to 80 psi (345 to 552 kPa) with the engine at high idle and at operating temperature. A lower pressure is normal at low idling speeds.5. Water temperature gauge - shows the engine coolant temperature in degrees Fahrenheit (°F). The normal range is 165°F to 210°F (73.5°C to 99°C).6. Tachometer - shows the engine speed in revolutions per minute (RPM). Low idle speed should be approximately 650 RPM and high idle approximately 2265 RPM.
MAINTAIN AT LEAST 2100 RPM WHILE OPERATING THE MACHINE. IF THE CUTTER LOAD LUGS THE ENGINE DOWN, REDUCE THE TRAVEL SPEED. SEE PAGE 4-1 FOR EXPLANATION.
7. Voltmeter - shows the voltage in the electrical system: battery voltage (24 volts) if the engine is not running or the charging system is not working, alternator regulated output voltage (28 volts) if the charging system is functioning.8. Neutral start light - lights when the track drive pump is in neutral. THE ENGINE WILL NOT START UNLESS THE PUMP (TRAVEL CONTROLS) IS IN NEUTRAL.9. Rack light - lights up when the cutter engine is operating at full power. The greatest machine production is obtained when this light is on, the engine is at 2100 RPM and the track hydraulic pressure is between 2500 and 2700 psi (17 238 to 18 617 kPa).10. Exhaust temperature gauge - shows the temperature of the engine exhaust gases in degrees Fahreheit (°F). The temperature should range from 830°F to 970°F (443 to 520°C) with the engine working at full capacity at 2100 RPM. If the temperature exceeds 970°F (520°C) the load on the engine should be reduced by decreasing the depth of cut and/or slowing the travel speed.11. Emergency battery disconnect switch - activates a solenoid in the main battery disconnect switch to open the main battery disconnect switch (see page 3-14) and, at the same time, shut the engine down. The main battery disconnect switch must be manually reset after the emergency battery disconnect switch has been used. 12. Service meter - shows the total number of "units" the engine has run, which indicates when service is required on the engine. A "unit" is a combination of the length of time the engine has run and the speed at which the engine has run. Eight hours of operation at a high speed will accumulate more "units" than eight hours of operation at a low speed. 13. Fuel filter gauge - shows the condition of the engine fuel filters. As either the primary fuel filter element or the final fuel filter elements gradually become cloggged with foreign material, the fuel gauge indicator will work back from the original position in the "Normal"
