Information:

The diverter valve is located on the left side of the machine and to the rear of the hydraulic and the transmission tank. Fluid Spillage ContainmentCare must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to "Tools and Shop Product Guide, NENG2500", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines. Dispose fluids according to local regulations and mandates.1. Install Tool (A) on the hydraulic tank and connect Tool (A) to a source of compressed air to establish a vacuum on the tank. 2. Put a suitable container in position under brake diverter valve (4) to contain the oil for storage or disposal. Mark and identify three hose assemblies (1), (2) and (3) for installation purposes. Disconnect hose assemblies (1), (2) and (3) from brake diverter valve (4). Cap and plug all openings immediately.3. Remove two bolts (6) and the washers that hold brake diverter valve (4) to the frame. Remove brake diverter valve (4) and bracket (5). The following steps are for the installation of the brake diverter valve.4. Put bracket (5) and brake diverter valve (4) in position on the frame. Install two bolts (6) and the washers. Do not tighten bolts (6) at this time. Move bracket (5) under the valve to the right, to move the spool to the right. Tighten bolts (6) at this time.5. Check all seals for wear or damage. Replace with new parts if necessary. Connect hose assemblies (1), (2) and (3) to brake diverter valve (4).6. Remove (bleed) the air from the brake system. Refer to the topic "Removing Air from Hydraulic Brake System," in the Systems Operation Testing & Adjusting, Air Systems & Brake Modules, SENR 1412.7. Remove Tool (A) from the hydraulic tank. Check the oil level of the hydraulic tank. Refer to the Operation & Maintenance Manual for all fluid capacities and the proper filling procedures.
