Check Nitrogen Pressure
1. Remove the cover on the rear frame assembly.2. Remove the upper valve cap.3. Install two valve extensions to the valve.4. Install the nitrogen charging group. The group should consist of the following items: Valve (1); 13 800 kPa (2000 psi) Pressure gauge (2); Chuck with handle (3). Consult your Caterpillar dealer for information regarding the nitrogen charging group.5. Move the handle on chuck (3) completely clockwise. 6. Check the air temperature around the frame assembly. 7. Check pressure gauge (2) for nitrogen pressure in the system.8. Compare the temperature and nitrogen pressure with the following chart.9. If the reading on pressure gauge (2) is below the allowable tolerance, charge the drive belt tensioner system.See the topic Charging the Recoil Group under Disassembly and Assembly in the Service Section of this manual for additional information.
