Start By:
Remove the bucket. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Bucket - Remove and Install" for the correct procedure.
Remove the tilt cylinder. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Tilt Cylinder - Remove" for the correct procedure.
Remove the lever and bearing assembly with the link and bearing assembly. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Bucket Lever and Link - Remove" for the correct procedure.Note: Put identification marks on all lines, on all hoses, on all wires, and on all tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, hoses, and tubes. This helps to prevent fluid loss and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Personal injury can result from hydraulic oil pressure and hot oil.Hydraulic oil pressure can remain in the hydraulic system after the engine has been stopped. Serious injury can be caused if this pressure is not released before any service is done on the hydraulic system.Make sure all of the work tools have been lowered to the ground, and the oil is cool before removing any components or lines. Remove the oil filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.
Install Tooling (C) under the arm and bearing assembly in order to hold the arm and bearing assembly up when the lift cylinders are disconnected.

Use a strap and a suitable lifting device in order to support lift cylinder (4), as shown. Remove grease fitting (2). Remove bolt (1), the washer, and the spacer from pin assembly (3) .

Install Tooling (A) and (B) on pin assembly (3). Fasten a strap and a suitable lifting device to Tooling (A) and (B). Remove the pin assembly.
Lower lift cylinder (4) onto Tooling (C) .
Repeat Steps 2 through 4 for the opposite lift cylinder.

Use straps and a suitable lifting device in order to support arm and bearing assembly (6) .
Remove grease fitting (5), bolt (7), the washer, and the spacer from pin assembly (4) that holds the arm and bearing assembly to the frame. Remove the bolts that hold the guard away from the pin assembly. Use a piece of wire to hold the guard out of the way.
Remove pin assembly (4) .
Repeat Steps 7 and 8 for the opposite side of the arm and bearing assembly.

Install Tooling (B) and (E) on pin assembly (4). Use a spacer that is 6.4 mm (0.25 inch) thick, 25.4 mm (1 inch) wide, and 89 mm (3.5 inch) long between Tooling (E) and the frame. Use a strap and a suitable lifting device in order to support Tooling (B)
Remove the bucket. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Bucket - Remove and Install" for the correct procedure.
