Callout C and D designate the location of tilt link pins.Procedure For Checking Oil Level Using Void Meter
These pins are designed to require an air void to allow room for expansion when the pin and oil heat up during use. 1. Remove the access plugs from the tilt link pins.2. Check the oil level using 9U-7960 Void Meter Group to determine if the pressure is acceptable.The minimum acceptable pressure for the tilt link pins is 30.0 kPA (4.35 psi).
3. Measure the amount of air void in the pin. Never put grease in these tilt link pins. Grease cannot flow into small openings around the pins and lack of lubrication will cause the pin to fail.Refer to the Lubrication Viscosities and Refill Capacities, Page 80, Operation And Maintenance Manual SEBU6715-01 for the correct oil.
4. Add oil when pressure is at or below 30.0 kPa (4.35 psi) on the void meter.5. Install a clean oil pan in the pin.6. Total of four tilt link pins.
