Move the machine away from other operating machines and away from personnel. Park the machine on a smooth, level surface. Lower the bucket and/or attachments to the ground. Stop the engine.

Service Connector for Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET)
Note: The service connector is located behind the operator seat under the panel.
Connect the 7X-1425 Data Link Cable to an available COM port on your PC and to the connector on the 7X-1700 Communication Adapter. Connect the 139-4166 Data Link Cable to the connector on the 7X-1700 Communication Adapter and to the service connector on the machine. Reference: For additional information on use of the Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET), refer to Troubleshooting and Testing and Adjusting, "Using Caterpillar Electronic Technician to Determine Diagnostic Codes" for the machine that is being serviced.
Start the engine.
Open the software program for the ET.

Select "Implement 988H" from the "ECM Selector" screen and click on the "OK" button.

Select "Service" menu in the ET. Select "Calibrations" from the "Service" menu. Select "Implement Valve Solenoid Calibration" from the "Calibrations" menu.

Select the "Begin" button. The screen will change to step-by-step instructions for calibrating the implement valve solenoids. Note: The ET screen will be divided into three display areas. The top section of the screen will be used to display important status parameters that are monitored during the calibration. The middle section of the screen displays the information about the calibration procedure. The bottom section of the screen displays the step-by-step instructions for the calibration. The step that currently needs to be performed will be in bold text. All other steps will be displayed in gray text.

Select the "Next" button in order to begin the calibration. A check mark button will be placed to the left of a completed step and the next step will be highlighted in bold text. After successful completion of a step, select the "Next" button in order to begin the next step.
When each solenoid valve is calibrated, a status screen will appear. The status screen will show "Success" on the right side of the screen next to each calibration procedure. Select "Next" in order to proceed to the next calibration procedure. Follow the steps that are listed in the bottom section of the screen for each calibration procedure.

When all the calibration procedures are complete, a status screen will appear. The status screen will show "Success" on the right side of the screen. Select "Finish" in order to exit the calibration. Select the "Restart" button in order to repeat the calibration.
The Implement ECM will store the new calibration data only when the calibration is successful.
When the calibration procedures are completed, exit ET.
Ensure that the work tool is located on the ground. Turn the engine start switch to the OFF position. Then, remove the service tooling
