Upper Hitch Assembly1. Coat bores with 5P0960 Lubricant.2. Install three bolts (1), equally spaced around lower cap (2).3. Cool bearing cups down to -75° 5°C (-103° 9°F) and install lower cup (3), in bearing housing.4. Drive down to insure contact with cap (2).5. Lubricate cones with oil and install.6. Install cooled top cup (3), and drive down to insure light contact pressure on cones.7. Install shim (4), upper cap (5), three bolts (1) and tighten.8. Install torquing bolt assembly and tighten.9. Apply torque wrench to torquing bolt and read torque necessary to rotate cones.10. If torque is within range of 2.3 to 13.6 N m (1.70 to 10.06 lb ft), install remaining bolts and tighten.11. If torque is LESS THAN 2.3 N m (1.70 lb ft) or GREATER THAN 13.6 N m (10.06 lb ft), remove or add shims to obtain correct rotating torque.Upper Hitch Tightening Procedure
1. Tighten two diagonally opposite bolts an equal amount.2. Tighten the two remaining bolts an equal amount.3. Repeat procedure until all bolts are tight.Lower Hitch Assembly Instructions
Lower Hitch Assembly1. Coat bores with 5P0960 Lubricant.2. Install three bolts (1), equally spaced around lower cap (2).3. Cool bearing cups down to -75° 5°C (103° 9°F) and install lower cup (3) in bearing housing.4. Drive down to insure contact with cap (2).5. Lubricate cones (4) with oil and install.6. Install cooled top cup (3), and drive down to insure light contact pressure on cones.7. Install shim (5), upper cap (6), four bolts (1), and tighten diagonally opposite bolts an equal amount.8. Install torquing bolt assembly and tighten.9. Apply torque wrench to torquing bolt and read torque necessary to rotate cones.10. If torque is within a range of 1.1 to 5.6 N m (.81 to 4.14 lb ft), install remaining bolts and tighten.11. If torque is LESS THAN 1.1 N m (.81 lb ft) or GREATER THAN 5.6 N m (4.14 lb ft), remove or add shims to provide correct rotating torque.Lower Hitch Tightening Procedure
1. Install two bolts (7), 180° apart, tighten to 68 N m (50 lb ft).2. Measure gap 360° around between frame and plate (8).3. Install shim of minimum measurement minus 0.25 mm (.001 in) under plate.4. Install all bolts and tighten.
