Procedure For Fault Protection Timer Adjustment (FPT)
This procedure uses the spare fault input (connector contact 12 of the control board) as the test input.
Make sure that the spare fault input is programmed as a shutdown fault and the spare fault input is programmed to be included. Otherwise, the "FPT" does not function for the spare fault. See Testing And Adjusting, "Spare Fault - Adjust".
Place a jumper wire between "B-" (wire 2) and the spare fault input (wire SF1 or wire 18). DO NOT disconnect the connector on the control board. This spare fault signal is available at various points inside the control panel.
Locate the "FPT" potentiometer on the control board. Turn the "FPT" potentiometer fully in the counterclockwise direction. Then, turn the "FPT" potentiometer for one quarter turn clockwise.
Open the Remote Start Switch and close the Remote Start Switch.Observe the amount of time that is required between the following events:
the engine reaches the crank terminate speed.
the spare fault indicator is activated.Also, notice the time that is required for the engine to shut down.If the "FPT" time is less than the desired time, turn the "FPT" potentiometer clockwise. If the "FPT" time is greater than desired time turn the "FPT" potentiometer counterclockwise. Verify the adjustment by repeating Step 4 until the desired "FPT" time is achieved. Make sure that the new "FPT" time delay is achieved. Make sure that the new "FPT" time delay allows the proper start-up of the engine.
Remove the jumper that was installed for Step 2. If necessary, return the spare fault programming to the original programming.
