There may be several specific safety messages on an engine. The exact location of the hazards and the description of the hazards are reviewed in this section. Please become familiar with all safety messages.Ensure that all of the safety messages are legible. Clean the safety messages or replace the safety messages if the words cannot be read or if the pictures are not visible. When the safety messages are cleaned, use a cloth, water, and soap. Do not use solvent, gasoline, or other harsh chemicals to clean the safety messages. Solvents, gasoline, or harsh chemicals could loosen the adhesive that secures the safety messages. The safety messages that are loosened could drop off of the engine.Replace any damaged safety messages or missing safety messages. If a safety message is attached to a part of the engine that is replaced, install a new safety message on the replacement part. Any Caterpillar dealer can provide new safety messages.

(2) Hot Fluid Under PressureThis message is located on the top of the radiator, centered on the left side of the radiator cap.

Pressurized system! Hot coolant can cause serious burns, injury or death. To open the cooling system filler cap, stop the engine and wait until the cooling system components are cool. Loosen the cooling system pressure cap slowly in order to relieve the pressure. Read and understand the Operation and Maintenance Manual before performing any cooling system maintenance.
(3) Hot SurfaceThese messages are located on each side of the radiator.
