(B) Outlet (High pressure) The gear pump is a fixed displacement gear pump.Drive shaft (1) turns drive gear (3), which forces idler gear (4) to turn. A seal is formed by the gears against pump housing (2). As the gears turn, oil enters through inlet port (A). The oil is trapped between the teeth and pump housing (2). The oil is pulled around the outside of the gears. The oil is then forced out of outlet port (B). The gear pump supplies oil to the braking system, charging oil to the hydrostatic drive system, and oil to the hydraulic fan system.
