Remove Oil Pump
start by:a) remove oil pan base1. Remove bolt (2) that holds the suction tube in place. Use two people to remove the oil pump. 2. Bend the locks on bolts (1) away from the bolt. Remove four bolts (1) from the oil pump.3. Remove the oil pump (3). The weight of the oil pump is 70 lb. (32 kg).Install Oil Pump
1. Put oil pump (1) in position on the cylinder block.2. Install the locks and four bolts that hold the pump to the cylinder block. Bend the locks up against the bolts.3. Install the bolt that holds the suction tube in place.end by:a) install oil pan baseDisassemble Oil Pump
start by:a) remove oil pump 1. Remove three bolts (2) and the locks that hold suction bell assembly (1) in position.2. Remove two bolts (3). Remove the bypass valve and the suction bell assembly as a unit. 3. Make a separation of suction bell assembly (1), tube (4) and bypass valve (5). Remove the O-ring seals from the tube.4. Bend locks (7) away from the bolts. 5. Remove six bolts (6), the locks and screen assembly (8) from the suction bell.
Cover (9) holds a spring under compression. Carefully remove bolts (10) to release the compression of the spring.
6. Slowly remove two bolts (10). Remove cover (9) from the bypass valve body. 7. Remove spring (12) and valve spool (11) from body (14).8. Remove washer (13) from the cover. 9. Bend the locks away from bolts (15).10. Remove four bolts (15), the locks and baffle plate (16) from the oil pump. 11. Remove cotter pin (18) and loosen nut (17) approximately an 1/8 in. (3.0 mm). Do not remove nut (17) at this time. 12. Install tooling (A) as shown on gear (19). Use tooling (A) to break the taper between the gear and the shaft.13. Remove tooling (A), the nut gear (19) and the key from the oil pump. 14. Remove four bolts (20) and cover assembly (21) from the oil pump. Make note of the location of the two bolts with identification (X). The grip length on these two bolts is machined and the two bolts are used as dowels. 15. Use tooling (B) to remove bearings (22) from the cover assembly. 16. Remove gears (23) and (24) from the body assembly. 17. Remove body assembly (25) from the cover.18. Remove bearings (26) from the cover.Assemble Oil Pump
1. Install bearings (2) in cover assembly (3) with tooling (A) and a press. Make an alignment of the oil hole in the bearings with the oil hole in the cover assembly.2. Install body (1) on cover assembly (3). Make an alignment of the dowels in cover assembly (3) with the holes in the body. 3. Install driven gear (4) in the body assembly. 4. Install driver gear (5) in the oil pump body. 5. Use a press and tooling (A) to install bearings (6) in cover assembly (7). Make sure the bearings are installed with the bearing junctions (joints)
