Cooling System
Pressurized system: Hot coolant can cause serious burn. To open cap, stop engine, wait until radiator is cool. Lift lever on the cap to relieve cooling system pressure and then turn cap to remove.
To release the pressure from the coolant system, turn off the machine. Allow the cooling system pressure cap to cool. The cap must be cool enough to touch with a bare hand. Lift the lever on the cap to relieve cooling system pressure and then the cap can be removed.Note: The cap cannot be removed until the lever is raised and begins releasing system pressure.Hydraulic and Braking System
Personal injury can result from hydraulic oil pressure and hot oil.Hydraulic oil pressure can remain in the hydraulic system after the engine has been stopped. Serious injury can be caused if this pressure is not released before any service is done on the hydraulic system.Make sure all of the attachments have been lowered, oil is cool before removing any components or lines. Remove the oil filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.
Pressurized System!Hydraulic accumulators contain gas and oil under high pressure. DO NOT disconnect lines or disassemble any component of a pressurized accumulator. All gas pre-charge must be removed from the accumulator as instructed by the service manual before servicing or disposing of the accumulator or any accumulator component.Failure to follow the instructions and warnings could result in personal injury or death.Only use dry nitrogen gas to recharge accumulators. See your Cat dealer for special equipment and detailed information for accumulator service and charging.
Hydraulic accumulators contain gas and oil under high pressure. Do not disconnect lines or disassemble any components of a pressurized accumulator.Failure to follow the instructions and warnings could result in personnel injury or death.Fully lift and hold the pressure release valve knob for 5 seconds to release the oil pressure in the hydraulic accumulator.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, PERJ1017, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Test Preparation
Park the machine on a smooth, level surface.
Place the transmission in the NEUTRAL position.
Engage the parking brake.
Stop the engine.
Place blocks in front of the wheels and behind the wheels.

Lift and hold knob (1) for 5 seconds to release pressure oil in the hydraulic accumulator.
Illustration 3 g06235428
Slowly remove hydraulic tank filler cap (2) to relieve any pressure in the hydraulic tank.
Make sure that all pressure oil is released before any fitting, hose or component is loosened, tightened, removed, or adjusted.Reference: For additional information about the release of hydraulic oil pressure, refer to Testing and Adjusting, "System Pressure -
