Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Drain the engine oil into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Engine Oil and Filter - Change".

Remove tube assembly (1).

Disconnect hose assemblies (3).
Remove engine oil pan (2) and the gasket.

Disconnect tube assembly (4) from engine oil pan (5).
Use Tooling (A) to support engine oil pan (5). The weight of engine oil pan (5) is approximately 105 kg (235 lb).
Remove bolts (6). Remove engine oil pan (5) and the gasket.Installation Procedure
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Install engine oil pan (7) in reverse order of removal.
Apply Tooling (B) on the four socket joints of the oil pan gasket and the four T-joints on the bottom of the block where the front and rear housings meet the block.

Tightening Sequence
The directional arrow is towards the front housing of the engine.
Tighten bolts (6) in sequence to a torque of 47 9 N m (35 7 lb ft).
Tighten bolts (6) again in sequence to a torque of 47 9 N m (35 7 lb ft).
If the oil drain plug was removed, install the oil drain plug. Tighten the oil drain plug to a torque of 70 10 N m (52 7 lb ft).
