Note: The steering cylinder crossover relief valves must be operating correctly before you perform the following procedure.

(1) Test port for the steering system
Stop the engine and make sure that the pressure in the hydraulic system is zero.
Install the steering frame locks.
Connect a 28000 kPa (4000 psi) pressure gauge to test port (1) .
Start the engine and run the engine at high idle. Articulate the machine into one of the stops and continue turning the steering wheel. Read the pressure on the gauge. This will be the relief setting of the steering relief valve. The pressure should be 20700 350 kPa (3000 50 psi).
Straighten the machine and stop the engine. Remove the steering frame locks and remove the test equipment.Adjust
The relief setting of the pressure relief valve can be adjusted by changing the thickness of shims in the relief valve. See "Test" in order to test the relief setting of the pressure relief valve.

(2) Fitting (3) Shims
Remove fitting (2) from the steering control valve.
Change the thickness of shims (3) in order to change the relief pressure setting. Adding shims will increase the pressure setting.
Install fitting (2) to the steering control valve.
