New software is available to improve the functionality of the CDVR. Note: If the serial number of the CDVR is 26256001GD or greater, the CDVR is shipped with the new software already embedded. If the serial number is lower than 26256001GD, the software may need to be upgraded.The new version of the CDVR software adds the ability to program the CDVR AVR or Var/PF setpoints exclusively from the CANBus or from a Switch. The new PC software also allows the user to set the generator rated current and CT Primary to as low as 25 Amps. New functions of the CDVR are as follows:
The new setpoints are named "AVR Voltage Control Desired Input Configuration" and "VAR/PF Control Desired Input Configuration".
These new setpoints are accessible using the CDVR PC software until an Electronic Technician (ET) upgrade is available.
The default settings are "AVR Voltage Control Desired Input Configuration = CAN INPUT" and "VAR/PF Control Desired Input Configuration = SWITCH".
Set the "VAR/PF" control to "SWITCH" unless there is a device connected that can perform this control via the J1939 CAN port.In this setting, the CDVR receives VAR or PF adjustment from the switch. The J1939 CAN port is ignored for this control. The following controllers offer only voltage adjustment over the J1939 CAN port:

EMCP 3.3An optional switch is wired to the "raise/lower CDVR input terminals". This switch can control the "VAR" or the "PF" when the generator is parallel with the utility. The "VAR/PF enable" input has to be active to recognize this condition.Set the "AVR voltage control" to "CAN INPUT" when there is no "raise/lower" switch wired to the terminals. In this setting, the CDVR is receiving voltage reference from the EMCP 3 via the J1939 CAN port. The "raise/lower" switch inputs are ignored.Set the "AVR voltage control" to "SWITCH" when both the following conditions are met:
A "raise/lower" switch is installed either locally or remotely.
The "raise/lower" switch is wired to the "raise /lower" CDVR input terminals for the purpose of adjusting the generator voltage.The new 252-7515 Software (PC) and new 279-0916 Generator Set Software Group (CDVR) as well as documentation on how to flash the CDVR are available on the Service Information System website (SISweb) under the "Downloads" section.The new upgrades in software are compatible with the 235-5725 Voltage Regulator Assembly (CDVR).Upgrade the CDVR software in the existing 235-5725 Voltage Regulator Assembly. The 279-0916 Generator Set Software Group replaces the 252-7511 Generator Set Software Group.
