The information supplied in this service letter may not be valid after the termination date of this program. Do not perform the work outlined in this Service Letter after the termination date without first contacting your Caterpillar product analyst.
This Program can be administered either before or after a failure. In either case the decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer. When reporting the repair, use "PS4043" as the Part Number and "7755" as the Group Number. If administered before failure, use "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and use "T" as the SIMS Description Code. If administered after failure, use "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and use "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.
Although this Program is to be administered as described above on the Affected Product, parts should be removed from parts stock as soon as possible.
This Revised Service Letter replaces the October 19, 1997 Service Letter. Changes have been made to the Problem, Affected Product, Parts Needed, Action Required and Service Claim Allowances.

The 8R4736 or 1306232 Yoke Assemblies may leak at the center plug or the center plug may fall out on certain 834B Wheel Dozers, 988F Wheel Loaders and R2900 Loaders. The current yoke assembly needs to be replaced with a new 1416791 Yoke Assembly.

Affected Product
Remove the 8R4736 or 1306232 Yoke Assembly and replace with 1416791 Yoke Assembly. This yoke assembly is used on both the front and rear axles of 834B Wheel Dozers and is used only on the front axle of a 988F Wheel Loaders and R2900 Loaders.
