LOCATION OF THE HOIST CONTROL VALVE - D400E II
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Test Step 1.
Start the engine.
Place the hoist control lever in the raise position until the dump body moves.
Check the components of the hoist system for damage or leaks. Repair the components if it is necessary.
Check for drift of the hoist cylinders. Check for leakage from the hoist control valve to the tank or to the atmosphere.Expected Result:There is no drift of the hoist cylinders and there is no leakage from the hoist control valve to the tank or to the atmosphere.Results:
No Leak... - Stop.
Leak... - Proceed to test step 2.Test Step 2.
Loosen jam nut (2) of bleeder valve (1) .
Make sure that adjustment screw (1) is tight.

No Leak... - Stop.
Leak... - Proceed to test step 3.Test Step 3.
Make sure that the engine is stopped. Make sure that the dump body is fully lowered. Make sure that the hydraulic pressure is zero. Be cautious of hot hydraulic fluid.
Remove bleeder valve (2) by unscrewing the valve cartridge in the counterclockwise direction.
Install a new bleeder valve.Photo...
