directional shift management function is used to reduce driveline stress during directional shifts. The transmission/chassis ECM sends a signal to the engine ECM during directional shifts. This signal is used to reduce the fuel flow, which reduces the torque during a shift.The directional shift management function activates when the engine speed is above 1000 rpm and the operator shifts the transmission out of the NEUTRAL position. Also, the directional shift management function activates when the engine speed is above 1000 rpm and the operator shifts the transmission through the NEUTRAL position. The transmission/chassis ECM sends a command that will briefly reduce the “Desired Engine Speed” to a low idle. The directional shift management function also records transmission abuse.
