Information:

preparatory step: a) remove transfer gear 1. Place transmission, input side up, on repair stand and remove cover (1). 2. Remove shift control solenoids (2). 3. Remove valve body (3). 4. Remove switch group (5) and shaft (4). 5. Remove valve body (6). 6. Remove manifolds (7) and (8). 7. Remove retaining bolts and gear (9). 8. Remove bolts (10) and (11) and bearing support (12). 9. Install two 1/2"-13NC forged eyebolts, attach hoist, and remove transmission case. 10. Remove bolts (13) and cover assembly (14) from No. 1 clutch. Remove bearing (15) only if bearing replacement is necessary. If so, cut old bearing off and press new bearing on. 11. Remove bolts (17), retainers, and hub (16).12. Remove springs and dowels, and plates and discs (18). 13. Remove No. 1 clutch housing and planetary from transmission and remove piston (19). 14. Remove retaining ring and bearing (20). 15. Turn clutch housing and carrier over and remove manifold (21). 16. Pull bearing locating plug (22) from oil manifold using a 6-32 machine screw.17. Remove bearing (23). 18. Remove sun gear (24) from carrier. 19. Remove planetary shafts and gears (25). 20. Remove balance piston (26). 21. Remove No. 2 clutch cover (27) and ring gear (28). 22. Remove plates and discs (29) and piston (30). 23. Remove ring (31), install tool (A), and remove No. 2,3 clutch housing (32). Remove bearing (33), and oil manifold from clutch housing. 24. Remove ring gear (34) and springs, pins, discs and plates (35). 25. Retain No. 4 clutch piston with tool (B), and remove No. 4 clutch housing. 26. Remove shaft (36) and discs, pins, springs and plates (37). 27. Remove carrier assembly (38). 28. Drive shafts from carrier and remove gears (39), bearings, and thrust washers. 29. Remove cover (40) from No. 5 clutch housing. 30. Remove ring gear (41), plates and discs (42). 31. Remove No. 5 piston (43). 32. Remove No. 5 clutch housing (44). 33. Remove bearing (45) only if replacement is necessary. If so, cut old bearing off and press new bearing on.Assemble Range Transmission
1. Install No. 5 clutch housing (44) on transmission housing. 2. Install seals and No. 5 piston (43). 3. Install No. 5 ring gear, plates, discs, and cover (40). 4. Install gears and shafts in carrier assembly and install carrier (38) into No. 5 clutch. 5. Install No. 4 clutch plates, discs, dowels, springs (37), and ring gear.6. Install intermediate sun gear shaft (36).7. Install piston and seals in No. 4 clutch housing. 8. Secure the piston in the housing with tool (B), and install the housing assembly on No. 4 clutch. 9. Install No. 3 clutch ring gear (34), dowels, plates, discs, and springs (35). 10. Install the oil manifold assembly into the No. 2 and No. 3 clutch housing. Install the No. 3 piston in housing and install housing assembly on transmission using tool (A) to secure piston.11. Install retaining ring on the intermediate sun gear shaft. 12. Install No.
